Every year on September 17th, National Constitution and Citizenship Day goes largely unnoticed in this country. Feed Our Democracy wants to change that by turning that day into a national #DayofAction. Around the country — in Austin, NY, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Denver, Portland and Seattle – we’re partnering with The Riveter, Mom 2.0 and TueNight, to host events that celebrate National Constitution and Citizenship Day, getting people involved in celebrating our country.
On Tuesday, September 17th, 2019, join Feed Our Democracy to celebrate our Constitution and the citizens who every day, uphold its ideals through voting, activism, community building, and service. Together, we’ll turn September 17th into a National Day of Action celebrating the document – and the people – that make our country great.
Can’t make it to one of our locations? HOST YOUR OWN!
Host at home, at your church, mosque, synagogue or community center. Meet at a restaurant! You could even plan an event at your office or co-working space during lunchtime; (September 17th is a work day, after all.) As long as there is some kind of POSITIVE ACTION associated with the event, it qualifies.
We have three great ideas for your event each with a downloadable ToolKit to make it easy for you to #MeetEatActivate.
Voter Registration Training Event: The most essential part of any democracy is the right to vote. Host a Voter Registration Training event and you’ll be empowered to register eligible voters.
Refugees Welcome Event : Host an event that celebrate’s our country’s diversity, and helps make refugees and other immigrants feel welcome and get to start out their new American life with hope.
Postcard Writing Party: Have postcards, stamps, addresses, and approved messaging ready for guests to write postcards to Democratic voters around the country to Get Out The Vote. We’ll show you how!
